Chicago’s rapper Lil Reese was arrested on Saturday in the Englewood neighborhood and charged with violating his bail bond and possession of marijuana.
Lil Reese, 20, whose birth name is Tavares Taylor, was arrested on a sidewalk in the 6400 block of South Eggleston Avenue at 6:40 p.m. Saturday, police said. Taylor, of the 5100 block of South Wabash Avenue in the city’s Washington Park neighborhood, was found with about $24 worth of marijuana, or four grams, police said.
In a hearing before Criminal Court Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr., Taylor was ordered held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Taylor has had other recent run-ins with the law, including another appearance in bond court last month on misdemeanor charges of using false documentation to obtain a 2006 BMW.
Upon a search, police found four grams of marijuana on his person along with $2,029 in cash. According to the report, Reese told the officers, “It’s mine, I got a little weed. So what? There’s serious crime out there. This ain’t a big deal. I’m gangster.”
Reese was ordered held on $10,000 bail.
